Terms of service
Provider, scope and license
These terms govern the TapeMemo services provided by TapeMemo team, including our iPhone/Apple Watch app and tapememo.com. Contact us at https://www.tapememo.com/support. Apple's Standard EULA governs the App Store software license; these service terms describe TapeMemo's features and do not replace that license or mandatory consumer rights. Our privacy policy explains data handling. Reading these terms does not grant microphone, Health or AI permission.
Eligibility and responsible recording
Use TapeMemo only if you have the legal capacity and permissions required where you live; minors need appropriate guardian authorization and supervision. You must have authority to record, store, process and share the material you choose, including sending other people's words to AI. Give required notice and obtain required consent. Workplace, confidentiality, privacy, intellectual-property and local recording rules may apply.
Do not use the service for unlawful surveillance, harassment, impersonation, infringement, unauthorized access, defeating subscription/security controls or disrupting systems. Rights to investigate or modify software granted by law or an open-source license are preserved. The app cannot determine whether a particular recording is lawful.
Recording, transfer and availability
You initiate recording and should check its visible status. Battery, available storage, calls, Siri, operating-system interruptions, connectivity and device or model support can stop capture or delay transfer and transcription. A stopped recording may require you to return to the foreground and resume manually. Audio that was never captured cannot be recovered. “All-day” is a use case, not a guarantee of continuous 24-hour recording, battery life or instant synchronization.
On-device transcription and local models depend on supported hardware, languages and available assets. Online AI and subscription checks require an available configured service and a network connection. We do not promise that a particular model, output, feature or service will be available forever. Important changes to paid services remain subject to applicable consumer protections.
Free features, Pro and trials
The free tier includes up to one hour of recording per day, supported on-device transcription, keyword search and a one-time first-day daily-review experience. Pro adds recording beyond the free allowance and the paid AI/export features described in the app. Paid recording remains subject to device and system limits; “unlimited” does not mean uninterruptible or unlimited third-party infrastructure.
The standard US reference plans are $6.99 weekly and $49.99 annually. An eligible weekly plan may offer a three-day free trial; annual plans have no standard trial. An eligible annual retention offer may be $29.99. Availability, local currency, taxes, exact duration, eligibility and renewal price are those shown by the App Store before confirmation. The offer screen does not itself complete a purchase. There is no promised monthly or lifetime plan.
Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds
Purchases are billed to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled in time. To avoid renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period or trial ends, following the App Store's displayed terms. Manage or cancel in iPhone Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or sending a support request does not cancel billing. Paid access normally continues through the paid period; trial access may end on cancellation as described by Apple.
Apple handles payments, billing eligibility and refund requests under its processes and applicable law. You can restore an eligible purchase using the same Apple Account. TapeMemo team cannot promise approval of a refund. Loss or cancellation of Pro does not itself authorize deletion of your saved recordings. Some new processing or export features may require an active entitlement; your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Your content and permissions
You retain your rights in content you lawfully create or provide. You grant only the permission needed to carry out the functions you request, such as paired-device transfer and processing selected text for an AI response. This is not a sale of your archive or a general license for model training. Obtain the rights of other participants before processing their material.
The archive is stored on your devices and excluded from device backups; there is no TapeMemo server archive for restoration. Keep exports of important content. Retention settings and deletion can make original audio unavailable while text remains. Shared copies and third-party records have separate lifecycles described in the privacy policy.
AI, health and accuracy
Transcripts, speaker suggestions, AI summaries, answers and citations can be incomplete or wrong. Check important details against original audio and other reliable sources; a citation does not guarantee that a conclusion is correct. AI providers process permitted text under their applicable terms, including retention and safety rules. Do not send material you are not authorized to disclose.
Body moments associate available heart-rate/HRV sample times with recordings. They do not establish emotion, stress, diagnosis or causation. TapeMemo is a memory and reflection tool, not medical monitoring, emergency equipment, guaranteed legal evidence or professional medical, legal or financial advice. Do not rely on it alone for decisions affecting health, safety or legal rights.
Third parties and intellectual property
Apple, RevenueCat, network and AI providers operate under their applicable terms. Third-party software and optional models retain their licenses and notices; these terms do not restrict rights granted by those licenses. TapeMemo's software, design and branding remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Buying a subscription gives access under the applicable license, not ownership of the software or marks.
Suspension and ending use
You may stop using the service, cancel a subscription through Apple and delete local content using the app's controls. We may reasonably limit an online feature to address abuse, serious security threats, legal duties or material violations, using proportionate steps and notice where appropriate. We do not acquire your local archive by suspending online access. Refunds and remedies required by law remain available.
Responsibility, disputes and mandatory rights
We aim to provide the service with reasonable care but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation or recovery of uncaptured/deleted audio. To the extent permitted by law, we do not assume responsibility for independent third-party outages, unlawful user recording, or losses caused by relying on unchecked AI output. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, intentional misconduct or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or removes statutory warranties and remedies.
Applicable mandatory law and consumer rights in your place of residence continue to apply. These terms impose no exclusive foreign court, mandatory private arbitration or waiver of a legal right to complain to a regulator. Contact support first if you want help resolving a problem; this does not limit legal remedies or deadlines.
Updates and contact
We may update these terms for product, security or legal changes, publish the effective date and give reasonable notice of material changes. We will obtain additional agreement or consent when required; changes do not retroactively remove accrued consumer rights. Contact TapeMemo team at https://www.tapememo.com/support.
